Hydrogen for Sustainability

Delivering Sustainable Hydrogen for a Low-Carbon Future

Through power purchase agreements (PPAs), Lotse will source green electricity, ensuring the production of green hydrogen that meets the highest sustainability standards. As a vital part of Germany’s strategy to reduce carbon emissions, Lotse aims to provide sustainable hydrogen solutions that support the transition to a low-carbon future across various sectors. Leveraging advanced technology and its strategic location, Lotse will not only deliver clean energy but also contribute to regional economic growth.

What is green hydrogen, and why is it important?
Green hydrogen is created using renewable energy for electrolysis, splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen. It is essential for decarbonizing sectors like heavy industry and transport, helping to transition to a more sustainable energy system.
How will the Lotse Project support sustainability goals?
By replacing fossil fuel-based energy with renewable hydrogen, Lotse will cut up to 360,000 of tons of CO₂ emissions annually – equivalent to the annual emissions of approximately 50,000 households, supporting Germany’s climate targets and promoting local energy independence.
How will hydrogen from the Lotse Project be distributed?
Lotse will connect to Germany’s national hydrogen network, efficiently distributing hydrogen to industrial partners, making a significant impact in the sectors that need it most.
Who is involved in the Lotse Project?
The Lotse Project is fully owned and led by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) through its Energy Transition Fund (ETF). This positions Lotse as an important initiative within CIP’s portfolio, underscoring its commitment to advancing the green energy transition.
